Code Enforcement

The City of Everman Code Enforcement Department is dedicated to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of our residents by ensuring compliance with city ordinances and maintaining the integrity of our neighborhoods. Through education, engagement, and enforcement, we promote a clean, safe, and attractive community for all who live, work, and visit Everman.

What We Do

Code Enforcement is responsible for identifying and addressing violations of municipal codes related to property maintenance, zoning, and nuisance concerns. Our duties include:

  • Property Maintenance Enforcement – Addressing issues such as high grass and weeds, accumulation of trash or debris, deteriorated structures, and unsanitary conditions.

  • Zoning Compliance – Ensuring properties are used according to zoning regulations and that any changes are consistent with the City's zoning code.

  • Illegal Dumping & Littering – Investigating complaints of dumping on public or private property and taking corrective action.

  • Inoperable Vehicles – Regulating the presence of non-functioning or abandoned vehicles on private property.

  • Public Nuisances – Mitigating conditions that pose a threat to public health, safety, or quality of life, such as stagnant water, infestations, or offensive odors.

  • Business & Occupancy Inspections – Conducting inspections to ensure businesses and residences meet city code standards for operation and habitation.

Our Approach

The Code Enforcement team takes a compliance-first approach, working with property owners to achieve voluntary resolution whenever possible. Our process includes:

  1. Investigation – Complaints are received and investigated promptly by trained enforcement officers.

  2. Notice of Violation – Property owners are notified of violations and given an opportunity to correct the issue.

  3. Follow-Up & Enforcement – If compliance is not achieved, the City may issue citations or pursue further legal remedies as allowed by ordinance.
